Born on July 12 1947, on Canvey Island, England, John Peter Wilkinson, popularly known as Wilko Johnson, is an English singer and guitarist.
He graduated from Westcliff High school for boys and the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne with his bachelor’s. Before forming the band, he worked as a schoolteacher.
In 1971 Johnson, along with Lee Brilleaux and John B. Sparks formed a band called Dr Feelgood, but later, in 1977, Johnson formed the group.
Apart from being a singer and guitarist, he is also an occasional actor. He played the role of Payne in season 1 of Game of Thrones. Johnson was married to Irene Knight and was blessed with two children- Matthew and Simon.
Sadly the former singer passed away on November 21 at the age of 75. His kids survived him. His wife passed away in 2005 due to cancer.
