UPRTOU launches certificate programme on CAA and Article 370


ALLAHABAD: The Uttar Pradesh Rajashri Tandon Open University, the lone open university of the state, has launched an awareness campaign on the Citizenship Amendment Act and Article 370. These two topics would be part of the university syllabus and students can study the same in a three-month certificate programme.

“The new syllabus comes into force from January 10 itself and we have started taking the admissions too” said the public relation officer (PRO) of UPRTOU, Prabhat Mishra. The fee for this three-month certificate course is Rs 700 and there is no limit to number of students taking admission for the same, he added.

The vice chancellor of the open university, Prof Kameshwar Nath Singh, said, “No institution can be consider aloof from the problems and agenda of the country and there is immediate need to remove the ‘fog’ surrounding the misconceptions on the two burring issues i.e. Article 370 and CAA and it is the moral duty of the university to provide solution for the problems by spreading awareness among the masses to clear the ‘fog’.

Anyone who has the qualification of intermediate can get enrolled for the ‘awareness course’ of our university through online registration and can complete the same in Three months of time along with the course he or she is pursuing as this is an add-on course, added the VC.

He further added that UPRTOU runs courses according to the need of the time and society and the university has a large segment of students. Admissions have begun for the course and students will be given assignments and they will be given certificates after the successful completion of the assignments, the VC added.

The CAA syllabus has been divided into five parts while the one on Article 370 and 35A has six parts. This is an exercise to make people aware about the CAA and Article 370 and 35A, the VC said. The course explains the complete process and importance of the abrogation of Article 370 and the logic behind bringing the Citizenship Amendment Act, he said.
