They raised slogans against the state government and demanded that the government should repeal its decision and withdraw this proposal of restructuring administrative set up in medical colleges. They said that the proposal was not in accordance with the interest of patients and medical fraternity. The doctors also held a protest march in the hospital.
Other than emergency services, the OPDs and operation theatre services at the government hospital and teaching in medical and dental colleges remained suspended from 9 to 11 AM.
The Punjab State Medical and Dental teachers association (PSMDTA) demanded a joint meeting of all stake holders with the Chief Minister.
General Secretary, PSMDTA Diwan Bhullar, said that the government was ignoring the interest of patients and medical fraternity. In case the government fails to pay any heed to our demands, we will continue our agitation and would intensify it by going on an indefinite strike, they said.
