Benefits of One Nation One Ration Card Scheme (ONORC)

Under this scheme, the ration cardholder can use his ration card and get ration at any PDS shop, irrespective of where the country is located. Under this scheme ONORC beneficiaries will get the opportunity to choose the shop of their choice and if misbehaved by an FPS shopkeeper, the shop can also be changed by him. Through this scheme, social discrimination will also be removed from the country and apart from this the problem of hunger will also be removed from the country.

Standard Format of ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’

Every state government has prepared a standard format to benefit the people of the country, which will be used by each state government. The following things will be kept in mind under this format.

  • For national portability, it will be mandatory for each state government to use two languages ​​in the ration card, one of which can be the local language and the other one can be in Hindi or English.
  • Apart from this, there will also be a 10-digit standard ration card number of which the first two digits will be the state code and the next two digits will be the ration card number.
  • Ration card portability has been implemented so far in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Jharkhand, and Tripura.
