Prof Tewari informed that this historical journal was first published in the early 1920s after Sir Shafaat Ahmed Khan succeeded L.F. Rushbrook Williams (Founder of the Department) as its Head in 1921. This prestigious Journal continued to publish, annually from the department till early 1940s after which it discontinued.
The Journal was known for its content which was academically enlightening and helped a lot in the development of the Indian historical thought which was in its budding years then, said the HoD. The Journal had varied contributors which on one end included meritorious students of the department and on another end had esteemed professors and historians Prof CB Tripathi, Prof BN Pandey and Prof DN Shukla of the department sharing their valued write-ups in the Journal. This Journal had a nationwide reputation and was heavily read in the academic circles of not just India but the whole world.
Now, after around Eight decades the present head of department, Prof Tewari has decided to revive this Historical Journal one more time, in order to promote the academic potential of the department.
“The Journal is planned to be launched in the coming week of this month itself and the upcoming issue would include popular articles of the previous issues of the journal and recent contribution from few of the prominent academicians of the department”, said Prof Tewari.
