Prof Jayant Tripathi of the department of earth and planetary sciences of AU has been made the new director of FRC. The all-important cell, which looks after teacher recruitment at AU, will have two deputy directors too.
There are over 550 vacant teaching positions on the campus and the HRD has recently given the green signal to start the process which was kept in abeyance for over last Six months.
The varsity authority was asked by the HRD to stop all the process relating to recruiting teachers on the campus in June 2019. Thereafter the FRC witnessed change of guard under the regime of former VC Prof RL Hangloo.
Prof D K Chauhan was made the chairman of FRC while Prof Vivek Kumar Tewari of the department of Physics was made the director. There were other members at FRC which were given important posts including that of deputy directors. It was felt that all the teachers, given the responsibility of running the FRC were close to Prof Hangloo.
However, with the change of guards and Prof Tewari taking over the charge of officiating VC, there were strong possibility that the new VC would reconstitute FRC.
On Thursday, the registrar issues a notification wherein Prof Jayant Nath Tripathi has been appointed as the new director of the cell. Besides, Anoop Kumar of the department of Economics and Prakash Kumar Singh of the department of earth and planetary sciences have been appointed as the two deputy directors.
“There is huge responsibility on the team and we all will be trying that the chunk of vacant teaching positions on the campus are filled before the starting of new academic session so that the teacher-taught ratio (TTR) at AU improves which will eventually improve the overall grading of AU”, said Prof Tripathi.
